About Kamala Fynbos Reserve Plettenberg Bay

Started in 2017 by Johan and Keri-Ann de Bruijn after the ‘big fire’. The land was previously forestry and harvested for Pine, all reduced to ash except two of the houses. The decision was made to act and rehabilitate the land to the best of our abilities. Six years later we introduce Kamala Fynbos reserve, a 250ha private game farm with zebras, nguni, bontebok, bushbuck, grysbok and wonderful birdlife. Its been an adventure, raising our family and now sharing the land with others.

The 3 cottages rest in the mountains above Plettenberg bay, a 30min drive from town. The last 5-7km is on a dirt road, high clearance vehicles are advised due to road surface and speed bumps. The reserve hosts access to numerous mountain biking trails in the area (MTO) and on the 250ha reserve. There are plenty of farm dams to explore and swim within on a hot summer day. In the beautiful wild valleys you can walk and rest at rustic natural picnic spots under large shady trees, old knotted pines with pockets of indigenous forest which back onto the Knysna forest.

Our land is not connected to the grid. We use the suns energy and we receive our water from a natural fountain in the valley and the clouds above. We ask that we think before plugging in to the power. Communication is limited (cell signal) however there is a 4mbps free wifi.
